Being a Reader, Small-group Reading Instruction, Grades K–2

This five-part webinar series focused on the essentials of Being a Reader, small-group reading instruction in grades K–2. In this series, we will feature placement considerations, provide guidance to group for instruction, learn how to use the assessments to guide instructional decision-making, explore the aspects of the small-group lesson structure, and learn about the sophistication of instruction across Sets 1–5 and 6–12.

SESSION 4: Small-group Instruction Sets 1–5: Lesson Structure and Instructional Routines

In this session, we will learn about the Sets 1–5 predictable lesson structure and the important of the instructional routines. We will feature the sophistication of the routines across sets to support students foundational skills learning and application to reading and writing.


SESSION 5: Small-group Instruction Sets 6–12: Assessments and the Implications to Planning for Instruction

In this session, we will examine the SGR Sets 6–12 assessments and learn how to use the data to plan for instruction. We will learn the unique aspects of the lesson design across the three, six, or nine days of instruction. Assessments featured: Group Progress Assessment, and Individual Reading Observation (IRO starting in Set 3).
