Being a Reader Small-Group Reading Sets 1–5: Instructional Decision Making

In this document, readers will consider the implications of instructional decision making that supports the students’ learning of foundational skills and the students’ ability to achieve mastery. In each session, the participants will consider three sources of information to use when making instructional decisions and planning for reteaching. In Session 1, the participants will focus on Mastery Test data; in Session 2, they will focus on observational data from the Read or Reread components of the small-group lesson and the Individual Reading Observation; and in Session 3, they will focus on the observational data gleaned during small-group lessons, including the Group Progress Assessment.
