Marco Girish
Chief Financial Officer
Marco Girish serves as Chief Financial Officer of Collaborative Classroom. As CFO, Marco provides strategic financial leadership to support the organization’s mission, long-term sustainability, and continued growth and impact, partnering with the executive leadership team to align financial strategy, organizational resources, and operational priorities with Collaborative Classroom’s commitment to students and educators.
Marco brings more than 20 years of progressive executive, financial and operations management experience across nonprofit, private-sector, entrepreneurial, and public-company environments. Throughout his career, he has navigated organizations through growth and transformation, built and led finance and administrative functions, supported successful fundraising efforts, and established businesses and organizations from concept through fully functioning operations.
Most recently, Marco served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer of Connect Humanity, where he was a member of the launch team and led the development of the organization’s finance and accounting, human resources, and administrative operations. He also served as Corporate Treasurer and as a key liaison to the Board of Directors on financial, governance, and organizational matters. Previously, he served as CFO and COO of Agricultural Gas Company (AG Gas), a Northern California agricultural technology startup, and as Managing Director and Head of Finance, Human Resources, and Administration for Unison, a San Francisco-based fintech company.
Earlier in his career, Marco served as Chief Financial Officer of Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies (BHHC), an industry-leading provider of specialty insurance products. He also served as Chief Risk Officer and Vice President of Portfolio Management for Karum, a private-label credit startup providing credit programs and financial solutions to retailers and underserved consumer markets in Mexico, Central America, and South America. Marco began his career in public accounting as an auditor and Certified Public Accountant with KPMG in San Francisco.
Marco earned his B.S. in Business Administration, magna cum laude, from San Francisco State University and is a Certified Public Accountant in California (inactive).
Outside of work, Marco enjoys spending time with his family, playing and following basketball, and watching Formula 1 motorsports. He is also an active community member and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Hanna Center in Sonoma, California. His past community involvement includes service on the Finance Committee of the Sonoma Valley Boys & Girls Club, involvement with the Archbishop Riordan High School alumni community in San Francisco, and coaching and leadership roles in youth sports organizations.
