Professional Learning System for Collaborative Literacy

Comprehensive learning system helps schools and districts implement Collaborative Literacy programs including Being a Reader™, Making Meaning®, and Being a Writer™ programs

Alameda, CA—May 16, 2019—Center for the Collaborative Classroom, a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to providing curricula that support the academic, ethical, social, and emotional development of children, today announced the launch of The Professional Learning System for Collaborative Literacy. The comprehensive learning system was developed to help schools and districts implement Collaborative Literacy including Being a Reader™, Making Meaning®, and Being a Writer™ programs.

“The Professional Learning System for Collaborative Literacy is a holistic guide that aligns professional learning with our high quality curriculum and provides support for successful implementations, allowing schools to succeed and children to learn,” said Kelly Stuart, Chief Operating Officer at Collaborative Classroom. “Collaborative Literacy gives schools and districts a common framework for teaching and is the only curriculum that authentically integrates social and emotional learning with literacy. With the comprehensive Professional Learning System teachers have the tools needed to build a caring classroom community that motivates and inspires students to grow as readers, writers, thinkers, and principled people.”

Written for leaders and designed to span pre-implementation planning in year one all the way through year five, the Professional Learning System for Collaborative Literacy provides a pathway for aligning professional learning with the Collaborative Literacy curriculum. The guidance, tools, and resources provided in the system empower leaders to build internal expertise and capacity for improving teacher practice and student outcomes with Collaborative Literacy.

The Professional Learning System components include the support and tools that leaders and coaches need for planning and facilitating effective professional learning including:

  • Leader’s Guide to driving the effective, scalable implementation from pre-implementation planning year one all the way through year five.
