Dr. Pamela Spycher
Dr. Pamela Spycher
Expert Literacy Consultant
Dr. Pamela Spycher works at the intersection of research, practice, and policy. Her work focuses on improving P–12 teaching and learning with a particular focus on multilingual students. During her 20-year tenure at WestEd, Spycher led several federally funded research grants and directed complex projects in partnership with states, county offices of education, school districts, and universities.
Dr. Spycher was a lead author of the California Department of Education’s English Language Development Standards (2012), English Language Arts/English Language Development Curriculum Framework for K–12 Schools (2015), and Improving Education for Multilingual and English Learner Students: Research to Practice (2020). Her research can be found in peer-reviewed and practitioner-friendly journals alike.
