A supplemental decoding program, SIPPS Plus, Fifth Edition, is designed specifically to support older students (grades 4–12) in mastering foundational reading skills within the simple alphabetic and spelling-pattern phases of reading development. To apply their skills in connected text, SIPPS Plus students read Dreams on Wheels, a decodable reader designed to engage intermediate and higher-grade students with a variety of text types, particularly nonfiction. Upon completing SIPPS Plus, students progress to the SIPPS Challenge Level to master the polysyllabic and morphemic phases of reading development.
