Ken Doane is executive vice president at S.H. Cowell Foundation in San Francisco, where he directs grants in education and leads the foundation’s multidisciplinary, place-based grants programs in northern and central California. Starting as a middle school teacher and youth summer camping leader, Mr. Doane has served on the staff of the Wisconsin Center for Education Research, as director of program development for Partners in School Innovation, and as an executive consultant to the Stuart Foundation, Pivot Learning (Bay Area School Reform Collaborative), New Teacher Center, and other organizations. He earned his teaching credential through the Bay Area Writing Project at the University of California, Berkeley, and holds a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
