Educators Agree: Collaborative Coach Works

How It Works
A Customized Learning Plan for Each Educator
After each educator is matched with their own personal coach, the Collaborative Coach learning cycle begins with a questionnaire that invites the educator to reflect on their current instructional practices, areas of strength, specific challenges, and professional goals related to implementing Collaborative Classroom curricula.
The coach uses the questionnaire data to help the educator identify an area of focus. Common goals include:
- Mastering lesson delivery, routines, and specific teaching techniques
- Effectively supporting struggling students and diverse learners
- Managing time effectively and seamlessly integrating the program throughout the day
- Utilizing data-driven assessments, creating groups and differentiation
- Supporting and empowering other educators as a coach or administrator

Asynchronous Feedback Loops Through Video Recordings
Coaches initiate the coaching process by recording and sharing personalized video messages that model strategies, unpack curriculum components, or pose targeted questions based on the educator’s goals.
In response, participants submit their own videos—either of classroom practice or verbal reflections—for the coach to review and provide feedback on. This learning cycle continues for the entirety of the Collaborative Coach cohort.

Data, Insights, and Guidance for Implementation Leaders
Over the course of the coaching cycle, Collaborative Classroom provides the implementation leader with
data, insights, and professional learning guidance from their participating educators’ Collaborative Coach experiences.
Leader supports during Collaborative Coach include:
- Two check-ins with the Collaborative Coach Manager during the ten-week cohort
- Periodic progress reports with participation graphs and trend data
- Next-step activities for leadership walkthroughs and targeted PLCs

Collaborative Coach is different from other professional learning that we have engaged in. The 1:1 approach is unique and is tailored to individual teacher needs. … The positive feedback I received from week one all the way through the completion of the learning was incredible. Our educators were all so impressed with the process and the feedback they received from their Collaborative Coaches.

What Educators Say About Collaborative Coach
My Collaborative Coach was expert, extremely supportive, and open to any questions that I had. She was always available and responded to me as quickly as possible.
Vikki DeLoach, Interventionist, Joseph Shanklin Elementary, SC
Collaborative Coach is unlike any other professional learning that I have been exposed to in my career. Other experiences have often been broad and generic—applicable to everyone. This experience was personal to me and my teaching and was immediately useful to me and to my students.
Casey Estabrooks, Second grade teacher, Livonia, NY
The most powerful professional learning I have participated in throughout my career–the Collaborative Coach process allowed me to reflect on my own practice and have individual coaching feedback.
