Center for the Collaborative Classroom Announces Positive Learning List Review for the Organization’s Collaborative Literacy Texas Edition For Grades K-5

Comprehensive English and language arts (ELA) program meets the demands Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for all students

Alameda, CA — February 19, 2019 — Center for the Collaborative Classroom, a nonprofit educational organization, today announced that Learning List has found Collaborative Literacy Texas Edition to be deeply aligned to the TEKS. The program also meets 100% of the English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS) required for the K–5 literacy curriculum. Texas schools can now use Proclamation 2019-allocated funds to adopt Collaborative Literacy.

“Learning List invites publishers to submit new content as it is published so that our reviews reflect the materials districts are using,” said Jackie Lain, President of Learning List. “Collaborative Classroom took to heart the state review process and developed new content to fill alignment gaps the state identified. We were honored to have had the opportunity to review the update material and verify that it meets the content and rigor of the new TEKS.”

“We thank Learning List for their comprehensive review of our program and realize how important it is for districts to see exactly how programs meet all standards,” said Kelly Stuart, Chief Operating Officer at Collaborative Classroom. “We are confident districts adopting Collaborative Literacy will appreciate how our unique pedagogy meets the TEKS.”

Collaborative Literacy is a rigorous, yearlong curriculum that addresses the core reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills that students need to thrive. Collaborative Literacy enables students’ development as readers and writers who think critically, while simultaneously fostering their growth as caring, collaborative, and principled people.

Collaborative Literacy includes Being a Reader, Guided Spelling, Making Meaning, and Being a Writer. With a focus on embedded professional learning, Texas educators will have access to a core literacy program that is designed to support their own learning as they engage in daily lessons. Collaborative Literacy is one of four core ELA programs and the only one developed and distributed by a nonprofit organization on the Proclamation 2019 Instructional Materials Adoption List.
