OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — Collaborative Classroom is proud to announce that SIPPS®, Fifth Edition has been officially added to the Oklahoma State Department of Education’s (OSDE) vetted list of evidence-based interventions.
Featured on the Strong Readers Act Guidance Webpage as part of the list of literacy interventions reviewed by OSDE, the K–12 SIPPS curriculum is now recognized as an evidence-based solution for phonological awareness and phonics across Tiers I, II, and III. This distinction confirms that the program meets Oklahoma’s rigorous instructional expectations and aligns with the latest research in the science of reading.
“This recognition reflects SIPPS’ strong alignment with evidence-based practices and Oklahoma’s instructional expectations,” said Jennifer Ackermann, the Collaborative Classroom Manager of Educational Partnerships in Oklahoma. “We are thrilled to support Oklahoma educators in providing timely, effective intervention to help all students become fluent, independent readers.”
As a trusted solution used nationwide, SIPPS provides a systematic approach to decoding that helps students in grades K–12 close literacy gaps quickly. Thanks to OSDE’s guidance, Oklahoma districts looking to implement the program can now do so with the confidence that SIPPS meets state-mandated standards for evidence-based literacy intervention.
For more information, Oklahoma educators can visit Collaborative Classroom’s Oklahoma state webpage or download a digital SIPPS sample kit to explore the curriculum firsthand.
About SIPPS
SIPPS is an evidence-based, systematic decoding program that helps new and striving readers in grades K–12 quickly develop the accuracy and automaticity needed for fluent, independent reading. Taught to small groups of students with similar needs, SIPPS makes the most of precious instructional time for every student.
Backed by third-party studies and nationally recognized, the SIPPS program is:
- Aligned with the science of reading
- Designed to accelerate and solidify students’ mastery of foundational skills
- Flexible, adaptable, differentiated, and MTSS-aligned for use across all three tiers of instruction
- Proven effective with young readers (K–3) as well as older striving readers (4–12)
